A significant proportion of the population in North Wales speaks Welsh as their first language. Our commitment to train Welsh speakers to meet present and future clinical needs in Wales provides unique opportunities to include practical aspects of cultural diversity in our training which will be attractive to all trainees. Funding is therefore available for those wishing to learn the Welsh language. Classes are run by the School of Lifelong Learning at Bangor University and are based in various locations. Trainees can attend the Welsh summer school before starting the programme and/or join the regular evening classes in a convenient location.
Welsh speaking trainees have the option of completing their academic assignments through the medium of Welsh. The programme organises translation services, of both written work and simultaneous translation in oral presentations.
