A workshop hosted by Barbara Riddell (co-ordinator of service user and carer involvement) with the Surrey Programme was held in 2011. This workshop provided a very valuable and informative forum to share the experiences of the Surrey Programme with programme staff and trainees at Bangor. The Trent Doctoral Programme in Nottingham hosted a further workshop, ‘involving service users & carers in clinical psychology training’ in June 2013. This one-day conference again shared ideas about how to increase meaningful service user and carer involvement in clinical psychology training programmes. James Lea and a People Panel representative attended this workshop with very useful ideas gained and a valuable perspective on how to engage with trainees. We hope to implement some of these ideas in due course.
